Ah. Australian. ;)
I’m just a weird, furry, pan guy (cis he/him). I also have a big, blue username.
Currently on Earth for 8 years ensuring steps to unite humanity and usher us into the galactic civilization just so I can see my boyfriend again.

I went and found Yiffit originally because the more knowledgeable Lemmy gurus pointed out that everyone using 1 instance would bog things down. Makes sense, you know? Harder to serve everyone, especially if this whole thing is just up because of hobbyists and volunteers and not big mega corps with limitless funding, through 1 channel. Where big sites like Reddit split across multiple servers behind the scenes, Lemmy just allows you to manually control what servers you’re using via the instance you’re on. I’m big on choice, so this is hella rad IMO.
It’s okay now. It’s not the highest fidelity you could get, it’s rather expensive, and it has to be tethered to a PC. The Quest and the Pico are half the price of the Index, have better quality displays, lighter headsets, and can run wirelessly without the need for a PC or tracking base stations.
When it was new? Hell yeah, I would have spent a little more to get an Index. They were the best at one point.
Benchmark it how, exactly? Can it accurately give me Pokedex info for any pokemon I ask it about? Because even Fandom wikis can’t do that and those are edited, assumingly, by humans.
Been online myself since 1993. Literally from the advent of the World Wide Web. I’ve seen it all. And I’m hella fucked up.
I used to enjoy the Internet to the fullest, but now I have nightmares brought on by seeing the worst humanity has on tap from sites like Rotten and Ogrish.
One of the many other problems with recycling besides this tidbit, is the fact that most people don’t even follow the first two instructions before recycling. Nobody reuses anything and nobody has reduced their consumption.
I would like a VR headset that is comparable in hardware and price to the Quest 3, that also isnt owned by ByteDance. Pretty much only two options; Meta’s Quest 3 or ByteDance’s Pico 4. 😞
I can’t tell what the flag is saying… It’s either “kill your family” or “bill loves emily.”
The mastadon user posting the thing needs to tag the Lemmy community in their post and then it will show up like any other post on Lemmy. You wouldn’t even know it’s from Mastodon unless they said so in the post.
I turned 40 today.
My body feels like shit. My mind feels the same as it did when I was 14; confused and horny.
You sure it doesn’t just mean communism in 8 different ways at once?
I’ve seen plenty of working flying cars since the late 90’s.
Word to the media: don’t bother us with this shit until they have a working idea on how to monitor and regulate the shit so we can all have flying cars and not just one dude’s stupid prototype. The hard thing isn’t making a car that can fly. That shit is relatively easy. The hard part is figuring out how air traffic would work if everyone was up there. It’s already a PITA and there aren’t a helluva lot of planes compared to cars.
I don’t even know the name of the adhesive they used. I do know that it was made by 3M and that it’s orange.
I worked at the Tesla plant in Fremont for a bit and most of every car is held together with adhesive. They claim it’s super strong and once heated, it’s stronger than welding… But, I mean… They are still falling apart and I don’t know if that’s because the adhesive sucks or if it’s because every single day, they had to have someone remind everyone that the glue pattern posted at every station where it’s applied isn’t just a suggestion, it’s an engineering requirement for the structural integrity of the part. People were just slapping the adhesive onto shit in any old way they pleased a lot of the time.
I only look at porn that is demeaning to cartoons.
And now I am reminded of all the dishes I had to replace or seal with silicone because whenever it rained, they leaked water down the ethernet cable into the POE and it would short the thing out and potentially cause fires. The company (Unwired Broadband) didn’t want to actually replace them until the customer called for a problem nor did they ever warn anyone about the potential danger, despite knowing this catastrophic flaw in a single dish design and having a warehouse full of replacements.
IDK why this is downvoted; it’s literally the zipper that causes this bulge by being stiffer and less likely to bend like the rest of the material used for the jacket/hoodie/pants.
At least on a jacket or hoodie, you can push it up so the bulge is on your chest or something. Can’t really do that with jeans when the zipper is just on the crotch.
