No veto rights for single member states regarding the army would help.
The Economist is always a piece too easily discarded.
It’s delusional to think Russia would have any chance. They failed to beat Ukraine before it received any military aid. A single nation. What makes anyone seriously think Russia could take on an entire military alliance?
I think having our national armies more interconnected would be better than a federal army.
I simply fear the risk of having a federal army being abused at some point to intervene in internal / national affairs of an EU country is too high. Yes we’re living without mass civil unrest right now, but think about future possibilities. Imagine a country would experience a revolution or fall into a civil war. The federal army could be deployed and there’s no guarantee it will support the right side.
