For “Troll” even though I’ve been boycotting .ml for a while and haven’t made a single post or comment anywhere on .ml lmao

Fairly certain it was over my post (https://lemmy.world/post/24123469) on my home instance community lol

Absolutely PTB, it’s one thing to silence a user for personal beliefs that go against the admins in the communities on that server (which is also PTB in and of itself) but it’s a whole other level to do it to someone for actions outside of those communities or the instance.

This type of thing is unfortunately common on lemmy.ml, I’m kind of surprised there aren’t more posts here calling them out on it.

    PTB for sure.

You should only ban a user for activity outside your “turf” in extreme cases, that endanger your users; at most that endanger your community. Clearly not the case here.

Also, a year long ban? Seriously??? The only situation that I can see a mod/admin doing it is when they want to permaban a user, but still say “ackshyually le user wasn’t permabanned lol. we banned them for a limited time lmao.”

Looks like you got site banned, bud. Maybe they had enough of you making shitposts about how lemmy.world should defederate from lemmy.ml. I know I’m tired of seeing them.

Maybe your shitposting about lemmy.ml while at the same time reposting lemmy.ml’s memes to lemmy.world was the last straw. Is shit-stirring inter-Lemmy drama really what you want to be doing with your life?

Well, can’t say I didn’t try to keep my shit posting balanced. Apparently, anti-.ml shitposts are ok but shitposts on internal instance problems are “unnecessary drama”

If you dislike how lemmy.world is being run so much, why don’t you pick different instance, or create your own instance, or go back to Reddit, or take up a different hobby?

You seem technically skilled. You can start cm0002.world and power trip however you want.

I’m sorry but the start a new instance argument people throw around to dismiss moderation issues is a stupid one. Why? Because on federated systems like Lemmy, the instance that has the bigger slice of the pie (most users, most active communities) has the most control and power. Meaning the biggest platforms have the ability to kill your Fediverse experience almost completely, and starting a new server or joining another one won’t help you if you’re banned (I’m assuming you’re not going for intentional ban evasion) and if you’re being censored, it also won’t help you because they’ll still censor you from the majority of the fediverse. If they’re big and powerful enough they may even get others to join them in defederating your instance, making the impact that much bigger.

So while it is technecally true to say that Fediverse platforms are decentralized, I think it is dishonest and disingenuous to try and frame moderation issues like the ones with Lemmy.world or lemmy.ml as ones that can be solved by starting your own server, or migrating to another server. They can’t, because those servers control a larger portion of the pie, as in the communities and the userbase available.

I mean .world is fine most of the time, the meme was about a recent change where mods are apparently not supposed to remove obvious misinformation and instead “fight it with words”

why don’t you pick different instance

          Under evaluation

          create your own instance

Under evaluation; waiting for Lemmy alternatives, like piefed, to mature more

          go back to Reddit

Hell no, most of my disdain here is centered around letting Tankies run rampant with their misinformation genocide denying authoritarian praising crap. Everything else is at worst a “meh”

Oh is that what happens with a site ban? I knew it would prevent me from voting, commenting and posting on .ml (oh no!) Did not realize it would prevent them from seeing my posts lolol

      Welcome to the club

Thanks! I’ll wear it as a badge of honor!

They don’t federate, I don’t think. Only the reddit.world echo chamber would see them.

    incessantly whines about ml/world defederation

    gets site-wide ban on ml

    “oh those goddamn PTB tankies”

This doesn’t seem to have anything to do with YDI/PTB. You just got what you wanted without degrading the user experience of entire .world and .ml user bases.
