President Donald Trump said he is starting a program to offer residency and a path to citizenship to investors who pay $5 million, offering a new avenue for legal immigration even as he carries out a sweeping crackdown on undocumented migrants.
First off, the US, like most counties, has a Golden Visa program where you just invest $1 million (of $800k in some cases) and create 10 jobs in the US and you get a green card. Some EU countries have it as low as €100K for their version.
The difference with what’s proposed is no (that I can find) job requirement. This is just a way for 1) Russian ologarcs to obscure their income first and divert everything to crypto or Caymans accounts, and then 2) buy US citizenship so they 3) can have sanctions drooped and don’t get their yachts seized anymore.
